Eva Jane Reynolds was born in 1885 in Reynoldsville, Pennsylvania. Her family later moved to Bolivar, New York where she attended Bolivar High School and later prepared at Genesee Wesleyan Seminary (Lima, New York). Her father, J. H. Reynolds, was an oil producer. In 1905 Eva Reynolds entered Northwestern University, where she studied music. She lived in Pearson's Hall (College Cottage). Reynolds was a member of the Women's Union and attended Young Women's Christian Association meetings, among other activities on campus.
In 1908 Reynolds graduated from Northwestern's School of Oratory (now School of Communication). She married Charles Petra and lived in Olean, New York.
The archives of the Bolivar-Richburg-Allentown-Genesee Historical Preservation Society of Bolivar, NY state that Eva Jane Reynolds died on October 21, 1933.
