Michigan. Dept. of Transportation.
The Michigan Legislature established the State Highway Department in 1905 (Public Act 146 of 1905). The agency underwent three major reorganization and name changes: Department of State Highways (1965), Department of State Highways and Transportation (1973), and the Department of Transportation (1978).
