Hourani, George Fadlo.
Born of Lebanese parents in 1913 in Manchester, England, George Fadlo Hourani received his B.A. in Classics and Philosophy from Balliol College, Oxford. He received his Ph.D. from Princeton University in 1939. From 1939 to 1948 he was a lecturer in Philosophy and Classics at the Government Arab College in Jerusalem. In 1950 he began a 17 year tenure at the Department of Near Eastern Studies at the University of Michigan, Ann Arbor. He joined the faculty at the State University of New York at Buffalo in 1967 as a professor in the Department of Philosophy. He served as Chairman of the department from 1976 to 1980. He retired from the University in 1982 and died at the age of 71 in Buffalo, N.Y.
