George W. Gaylord was born in 1833 in Ohio. He later moved to Hudson, Ohio, and resided at 189 Aurora Street, where he lived until his death. He served as a private in the 19th Ohio Volunteer Infantry, Company K during the Civil War from August 8, 1861 to July 29, 1862. He was injured at the Battle of Shiloh and died at home in Hudson on July 29, 1862.
