Norwich University offered engineering courses from its very beginning as the American Literary, Scientific, and Military Academy. The David Crawford School of Engineering is currently comprised of the departments of civil and environmental engineering, electrical and computer engineering, and mechanical engineering. The David Crawford School of Engineering was named in honor of David C. Crawford, class of 1952, and his father David Crawford, class of 1922. The collections of the university archives also include photographs collected by the elder David Crawford during his time as a Norwich student.
