Dorothy Richardson Dorothy was born near the town of Yreka, California to a ranching family. After singing as a duo with her sister she continued to write song lyrics. Following college at San Francisco College, she opened her own brokerage firm. She also learned to fly and was a member of a women's flying group, "Flying 99's". She met and married Dale Dorothy in 1945 and moved to Las Vegas. Dorothy's civic involvement touched many parts of the community. She organized and was first president of the Women's Democratic Club of Whitney and helped to organize other democratic clubs in southern Nevada. In 1949, the Dorothys bought a ranch in Pahrump and worked to make the first paved road to the community a reality in 1954. Returning to Las Vegas in 1958, Dorothy became involved in civic activites, including the United Nations Grove, a project she proposed at Lorenzi Park. Dorothy Dorothy died in 1986.
