St. Louis surgeon.
John C. Morfit (b. 1874) received his medical degree from College of Physicians and Surgeons, Baltimore in 1895. He did a post-graduate course at Johns Hopkins Medical School. He was resident gynecologist at Baltimore City Hospital (1895-1896). From 1897, he was engaged in practice in St. Louis with a specialty in surgery. He was instructor in surgery at Washington University Medical School. In 1913, he was consulting surgeon at Mullanphy Hospital and Mount St. Rose Sanitarium. He was appointed first hospital commissioner, City of St. Louis, 1910. Dr. Morfit was president of the St. Louis Medical Society in 1907. --Book of St. Louisans, 1912.
