Hector Cameron Munro was born in Paisley in 1898 . His father Hector was a Corporation official. Hector received his education at Paisley Grammar School and then studied at the University of Glasgow between 1919 and 1922. In 1919-1920 he studied Mathematics, Natural Philosophy, and Physical Lab. Then in 1920-1921 he studied history, English, and French, and in 1921-1922 he studied Logic, Higher History and English Junior Honours. He graduated with an MA (Ordinary) degree on 21 June 1922. After graduating he held teaching appointments in Greenock and Paisley until he was appointed superintendent of Quarrier's Homes at Bridge of Weir in 1939 where he worked until his retirement. He was appointed M.B.E. in 1952. He died in 8 October 1973 at Kilmalcolm, Renfrewshire.
