Joe A. Greenhoe received a B.S. from Michigan State University in 1947, a Master of Fine Arts degree from the Yale University School of the Fine Arts Department of Drama in 1953, and the Ph.D. from Tulane University in 1967. He taught at Dillard University in the 1960s, and headed the theatre department and founded a summer theatre at Windham College in Putney, Vermont, in the late 1960s. He wrote the play, The Equivalent Lands, a history of the Putney area, which was produced at the Windham Summer Repertory Theatre in 1976.
