Schmitt, Harrison H.
Variant namesHarrison Schmitt was born in Santa Rita, New Mexico in 1935. After receiving his doctoral degree in geology from Harvard University in 1964, he joined the NASA Apollo program. As a Lunar module pilot and geologist of Apollo 17 he landed on the moon in 1972. In November 1976 he was elected New Mexico Congressional Senator.
