Prentiss, S. S. (Seargent Smith), 1808-1850
Variant namesSeargent Smith Prentiss was born and educated in Maine; moved to Natchez, Miss.; was admitted to the bar in 1829 and commenced practice in Vicksburg, Miss. He was a member of the state house of representatives (1836-1837) and a U.S. Representative for Mississippi (1838-1839).
