Ellwood Family.
Barbed wire manufacturer.
In partnership with Joseph Glidden, then the Washburn-Moen Company. Organized the Ellwood Manufacturing Company in 1889 which was sold to John W. Gates in 1898. Eventually, Gates' company became a division of U.S. Steel. Ellwood's son, William, ran a Percheron horse breeding business in DeKalb, Illinois.
