William Meharry Glenn was born on April 21, 1888, in Hillsboro, Ohio. He entered the University of Illinois in 1906, but graduated from DePauw University in 1910 with an A.B. It was at DePauw that Glenn first met Hamilton Holt who gave a lecture there in 1911. From 1910-1914, Glenn was a reporter at three different papers in the Midwest before he moved to Orlando to become co-publisher of the Morning Sentinel. In 1925, he became publisher of the paper; a position he held until 1931 when he became editorial writer for Tampa's Daily Times. His friendship was renewed with Hamilton Holt when Holt became President of Rollins College in 1925. Glen was active in the Orlando community and a strong supporter of Rollins College. He was also President of the Florida Press Association and the Associated Press of Florida. In 1952, he retired but resumed writing a column for the Orlando Evening Star in 1957, which he continued until 1960. He died on October 31, 1967 in Garland, Texas.
