Wilkes, John E., 1895-1957
Variant namesJohn E. Wilkes (1895-1957) was was a 1912 graduate of the United States Naval Academy. He was Commander of the U.S. Submarines, Asiatic Fleet in 1941, and then Commander of all seaports in Northern Europe in 1944. From 1945 to 1951, Wilkes was the Chief U.S. Naval Officer in Germany.
