William C. Rogers was born on March 12, 1919 in Manhattan, Kansas. He was educated at the University of Chicago, earning his B.A., M.A. and Ph.D. in political science and international relations (1937-1943). Dr. Rogers came to the University of Minnesota in 1949 and created the World Affairs Center, one of the first in the United States. He served as director of the Center from 1949 to 1984, when he retired from the University. In addition, he was also a professor of political science and chairman of the University Council on International Programs.
