Stager, Anson, 1825-1885
Variant namesBrevet brigadier-general of volunteers for his duty during the Civil War managing the telegraph lines in Ohio along the Virginia line, preparing a cipher for telegraph use, and then being appointed general superintendent of government telegraphs in all departments. Moved to Chicago after leaving government service in 1868.
