Lockport Light & Power Co. Inc. serviced south Louisiana towns including Bourg, Bowie, Cut off, Galliano, Golden Meadow, Grand Caillou, Houma, Lafourche, Larose, Little Caillou, Lockport, Mathews, Montegut, Raceland, Rita, and Thibodaux. The company began selling stock in 1925 and started operations in 1928. The Federal Public Service Corporation of New Orleans took control of the company in 1929. In December, 1934, it transferred all stocks to the American Utilities Service Corporation in fulfillment of a plan of reorganization after declaring bankruptcy. Lockport Light & Power Co. was completely dissolved on December 30, 1935.
