Barnes, Ruffin, 1827-1864.
Ruffin Barnes, of Wilson County, North Carolina, enlisted on 15 February 1862 at age 33 in Company C, 43rd North Carolina Infantry Regiment. He was promoted to Full Lieutenant 3rd Class on 22 January 1862, Full Lieutenant 1st Class on 28 July 1862, and Full Captain on 31 January 1863. He was wounded and taken prisoner at Charles Town, West Virginia on 21 August 1864 and died on 24 December 1864.
