Sylvest, Murphy John, 1892-1980
Murphy John Sylvest was born in Washington Parish, La. He attended the State Normal School in Natchitoches, La., and worked as an educator and a psychologist. He helped introduce articles of impeachment in the state legislature against Huey P. Long during his term as governor.
