Funding and support for the excavation was supplied by the University of Pennsylvania Museum, The Geographical Society of Philadelphia, and Dr. and Mrs. Oliver C. Colburn. The Ford Foundation and a L’Aquila Exchange, University of Pennsylvania grant in 1982 provided funds for Eiseman’s trips to Italy.
