C.E. Griffen, Class of 1915, organized The Arts. The organization's purpose was "the furtherance of interest in pictorial, literary, dramatic, musical, and other artistic activities" (Constitution, 1916). Undergraduates, alumni, and faculty were eligible for membership; Harold Rugg acted as secretary for many years. The Art's drew its Board of Governors from the Dartmouth the Drama Association, the Musical Club, the College Club, the Committee on Student Organizations, as well as from its own officers. The organization was inactive after 1933.
