Stewart, Morse, 1818-1906

Morse Stewart, son of George Dorrance and Harriet (Benham) Stewart, was born in 1818 and spent his youth in Penn Yan, New York. He came to Detroit in the 1830s after receiving his medical degree, and was greatly aided in building up his practice by the Rev. George Duffield. He married Sarah, niece of Eurotas P. Hastings, on Dec. 21, 1847. She did a year later, soon after the birth of a daughter. In 1852 his second marriage was to Isabella Duffield, and they had five children. Dr. Morse Stewart died in Detroit in 1906.
