Dr. Lois H. Visscher, medical missionary with the Board of Foreign Missions of the Presbyterian Church in the U.S.A. and with the Commission on Ecumenical Mission and Relations (COEMAR) and the Program Agency of the United Presbyterian Church in the U.S.A., served in India (1943-1979) and the Sudan (1980-1981).

Appointed to the India Mission in November 1942, Dr. Visscher worked at Memorial Hospital, Fatehgarh (1943-1964) and Christian Hospital, Kasganj (1965-1979). Assigned to the Sudan Mission, she worked at Nasir Rural Hospital, Nasir (1980-1981). After retiring from the UPCUSA in 1981, she worked for other agencies in Thailand as a doctor at refugee camps and hospitals. In 1990, she returned to the United States and entered the Presbyterian retirement home, Westminster Gardens, Durate, California.
