Luis Muñoz Rivera (b. July 17, 1859, Barranquitas, PR–d. Nov. 15, 1916 San Juan, PR) poet, journalist, and politician. He began publishing his poems in his 20s. Muñoz Rivera joined the Liberal Party. His son, Luis Muñoz Marín, was the first elected governor of Puerto Rico.
