Mrs. Maude Haynes Hollowell, president of the Warrington Businsee and Professional Women's Club, was born on farmland homesteaded by her great grandfather in Tama County, Iowa. The family moved to Marshalltown, Iowa, where she attended the local elementary and high schools. Graduated from Burnham School of Beauty Culture and the Gregg Business College, both of Chicago. Studied writing under Laurence D'Orsey and Natalie Newell. Author of "Go To 'Sea' Key West", historical volume with pictures, and "These Little Things", book of poetry, also published poetry and short stories, and radio plays. Resided in Tallahassee from 1928-1941. Broadcast over radio Station WTAL, Tallahassee, for two and a half years, directing plays and doing commentary. She also organized and trained the WTAL Players. Edited two weekly newspaper columns in Tallahassee: "In Review", in the Tallahassee Daily Democrat, and "With The Poets" for the Florida State News. Was one of the organizers of the Tallahassee Little Theatre. Was active in PTA, church and civic work there.

Came to Pensacola in the Spring of 1941 when her husband, W. Paul Hollowell, joined the electrical engineering staff at the Naval Air Station. They celebrated their silver wedding anniversary July 3, 1953.

Mrs. Hollowell is a member of the Pensacola Woman's Club and is chairman of the fine arts department of the Escambia Federation of Women's Clubs.

Member of the board of directors of the Pensacola Historical Society. Member of the Florida Historical Society. Member of the executive board of the League of Women Voters. Charter member of the Florida Women's Press Club and served one year on the executive board.

Member of the advisory board, Women's Division of the Escambia County Civil Defense. Joined the American Legion Auxiliary in Tallahassee in 1928. Since has belonged to the Unit in Pensacola and became a charter member of the Warrington American Legion Auxiliary when it was organized last fall. Has served as secretary since organized. Served a term on the executive board of the Crippled Children's Home and for a period on the Operating Board. Served on the board of the local Heart Association, 1953. Served four terms as secretary of the Greater Pensacola Civic Round Table. Served two years as president of the Iris Garden Circle. Held a Life Membership in the Pensacola Little Theatre. Member of the Mother Seton Guild. Was reporter and later associate editor of The Warrington Sun. Charter member of the Warrington Business and Professional Women's Club. Served as club secretary, 1950-1951; 1951-1952; 1952-1953; Publicity chairman, 1950-1953, second vice president, 1953-1954, Membership chairman, 1953-1954, President, 1954-1955. Served the district as news service chairman, 1952-1953; on the State nominating committee, 1952-1953; and the state News Service chairman, 1953-1954
