Donovan Miller graduated from the University of British Columbia with an undergraduate degree in Commerce and from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology with a Masters degree in Business Administration. He served as chairman, CEO, and president of the Canadian Fishing Company Ltd. in Vancouver. He was also appointed Canadian Commissioner to the International North Pacific Fisheries Commission. Concerned about higher education, Miller served as Chancellor of UBC from 1975 to 1978 and received an honourary degree in 1979.
