Hogg family.
Family of William James Hogg, a pioneer in the carpet business, and member of a family who first introduced the industry to the U.S. Originally from Philadelphia, Hogg moved to Worcester, Mass., 1879 and for a 50 year period was one of the best known figures in Worcester's industrial life. In 1879 William and his father bought Crompton Carpet Co., and changed its name to Worcester Carpet Company. In 1882 he bought out his father's interest and became sole owner.
