Gould, Roberte

Hide Profile

Roberte Gould was a minister of the Church of England in Edenthorpe, Norfolk during the late sixteenth century. Although a parson by the same name is listed as minister of Thorington in Suffolk in 1603 (Harley MS 595, no. 11, f. 168, published in the Proceedings of the Suffolk Institute of Archaeology and Natural History VI (1888): 361ff), it is unclear whether or not this is the same Roberte Gould.

MS 101 was part of a large collection of books and manuscripts owned by Sir Thomas Phillipps (1792-1872). This manuscript, endorsed by Sir John Fenn, was part of the Fenn Sale in 1866 and was acquired by Special Collections after June 1971.
