Goodwin, James Allen, 1873-1961
Cotton gin owner and operator. Born in 1873 in San Augustine, Texas. Began cotton ginning at age 19. Came to West Texas in 1908 and began a gin in King County. He later erected gins in Cottle County and bought a gin in Spur, Texas. He also operated two gins in Lubbock County during the 1940s. He sold all his ginning interests in 1952 but remained active in farming in Lubbock and Hockley Counties until his death in 1961.
