Hide Profile

The Shaker Heights, Ohio, Neighborhood Associations consist primarily of the records of neighborhood associations established in the 1950s and 1960s in Shaker Heights, Ohio to help facilitate integration of the community. The neighborhood associations include the Ludlow community Association (f. 1957), the Lomond Association (f. 1963), and the Moreland Community Association (f. 1962). These groups, concerned with open housing, fought to stop "white flight" from their neighborhoods after integration began. Other records concerned with open housing and integration of Shaker Heights are also a part of this collection. While these records were collected by the Center for Housing and Community Life of Shaker Heights, they are not a part of the city government of Shaker Heights official records.
