Variant namesLeland E. Cunningham, professor of astronomy emeritus at the University of California at Berkeley, died May 31, 1989 at the age of 85. He was an authority on orbit theory and on precise measurements of the orbits of comets, planets, satellites and space probes. Professor Cunningham joined the faculty of Berkeley's astronomy department in 1946.
