Hale Observatories.
Owned and operated by the Carnegie Institution of Washington, the Pasedena, Calif. observatories were known as the Mount Wilson Observatory (1904-1948), the Mount Wilson and Palomar Observatories (1948-1969), the Hale Observatories (1969-1980), and since 1980, the Mount Wilson and Las Campanas Observatories. This last site is in Chile. The observatories were jointly operated by Carnegie and the California Institute of Technology (1948-1980).
