Indianapolis lawyer and politician. Born in Franklin, Indiana, Jewett served one term as mayor of Indianapolis, 1918-1921, and was the Republican candidate for Governor in 1928 and for the U.S. House of Representatives in 1938.

Born in Franklin, Indiana, Jewett served one term as mayor of Indianapolis, 1918-1921, and was the Republican candidate for Governor in 1928 and for the U.S. House of Representatives in 1938. He died in Indianapolis April 28, 1961 and is interred in that city’s Crown Hill Cemetery.
