Rogers, Tate Henry, 1884-1979.

Miss Elitha Tate Henry was born on 2 May 1884 to Mr. & Mrs. D.S.B. Henry. The Henry family had been a pioneer family in the Washington Territory. Dr. Anson G. Henry had been appointed by President Abraham Lincoln to be the Surveyor General of Washington Territory in 1861. When he moved to Washington Territory in 1861, he brought his wife and family with him. Not only was he appointed by Lincoln but he was also a personal friend of Lincoln and his family. In 1865 Henry went to Washington, D.C. for the inauguration where he escorted Mrs. Lincoln to the Electoral College. While he was in Washington, D.C., President Lincoln was assassinated. Henry remained through the services and helped Mrs. Lincoln move to Chicago. In July 1865 he began his return to Washington Territory. But, he never made it because he was lost at sea in a ship wreck. His son, Dudley Story Bradstreet Henry, followed in his footsteps by becoming a civil engineer. D.S.B. Henry went on to become the city, county and U.S. Deputy Surveyor for the area. D.S.B. Henry met Fanny E. Talcott shortly after she arrived with her Uncle Charley in 1873. Charley became the founder of Talcott's Jewelry which was the first jewelry store in the Territory. Fanny Talcott and Henry were married on Dec. 4, 1873 in Olympia, WA. When D.S.B. Henry passed away in 1915, he was survived by his four children and a sister. His children were listed as: J.D. Henry, Charles S.B. Henry, Mrs. [Tate] R. R. Rogers and Mrs. Ellen S. White. His wife, Fannie, had passed away on June 6, 1891. Their daughter, Tate, married Raymond Roy Rogers on January 21, 1908 in Olympia, WA. After their marriage they resided in Aberdeen, WA because Rogers was involved in business with the Aberdeen World. Mrs. Tate Henry Rogers passed away in November 1979.

Adlebert De Los "A. D." Rogers was born August 4, 1844 in Tyre, NY. By 1868 Rogers had moved to Wisconsin where he married Permelia A. Moore on June 12, 1868. They continued their journey West. By about 1872 they were living in Olympia, WA. It is unclear how Rogers began his career as a photographer. He may have started at the L. Wilson Clark's Olympia photography studio. Around 1889 Rogers took over Clark's studio and it became known as Rogers Studio. In fact, the inauguration picture of the first Washington State governor was taken by A. D. Rogers. His son, Raymond Roy "R. R.", and another boy apprenticed with him to learn photography. In 1902 R. R. retouched photographs for his father's studio. By 1906 Rogers Studio had become Rogers & Son photography in Olympia, WA. R. R. was working for the Aberdeen World newspaper in Aberdeen, WA prior to 1908. After his marriage to Miss Tate Henry, they went to Aberdeen to live. After Dr. Carlyon's first wife passed away, he married Edna Rogers. Dr. Carlyon was a dentist as well as a politician. He became a Washington State Senator. A. D. Rogers passed away on June 6, 1917. He had lived in Olympia for 35 yrs. and had been in the photography business for 29 years. His wife, P. A. Rogers, survived him along with his son, Raymond R., daughter, Mrs Carlyon and sister.

Miss Mary O'Neil and Sally Holcombe were chaperoned by Dr. Anson Henry from Illinois. They arrived in Olympia, WA in 1863. Mary O'Neil lived with the Judge Francis Henry family. She became very well known as a teacher in the area. Sally Holcombe had been the sweetheart of Dr. Henry's son, Gordon, while they were living in Illinois. So, within about a week of her arrival Sally and Gordon Henry were married on June 24, 1863 in Olympia, WA.

Mrs. Mae Webster Jackson was born Sarah May Webster on 27 November 1863 in Thurston County, Washington Territory and lived most of her life in the Tenino area. She was the daughter of Aaron Webster and Sarah Yantis. She married Charles Jackson (1860-1936). She died 23 Dec 1943 in Tenino, WA and is buried in the Tenino Forest Grove cemetery.
