The Society of Dance History Scholars is a non-profit organization dedicated to promoting study, research, discussion, and publication in dance history and related fields. Organized in 1978 as an informal group to arrange conferences on these topics, the Society became a not-for-profit corporation in 1983. The principle activity of the Society is its annual conference, and the publication of the Proceedings, a written record of the workshops and papers presented at the conference each year.
