Hyacinth Hooker (nee Symonds) was the second wife of the botanist Joseph Dalton Hooker (1817-1911). Born in 1842 the couple had two sons.
Joseph Dalton Hooker was assistant surgeon and botanist to the British Naval Expedition, 1839-1843, (leader James Clark Ross). On her husbands death Hyacinth assisted Leonard Huxley with the writing of Life and letters of Sir Joseph Dalton Hooker published 1918 in 2 volumes. She died in 1921.
