William S. Daniels was born on April 18, 1922 in North Adams, Mass. and enlisted in the Army on March 19, 1943 at Springfield, Mass. At the time of enlistment he was single, had completed two years of high school and working as a driver. Daniels received his basic training at Camp Hale, Colo. and also served at Camp Swift, Tex. and during combat operations in Italy. He received a Good Conduct Medal and two battle stars for his actions during the Apennines and Po River campaigns and was honorably discharged on February 3, 1946. Daniels died on April 7, 2009 at North Adams, Mass.
