Hide Profile

The UAB Report was established in 1976 to offer news and information of interest to faculty and employees of the University of Alabama in Birmingham. The UAB Report supplanted several university publications including On Tap, Intercom, and University College Newssheet. Since its inception, the Report has been produced in tabloid format and has served both the Academic Health Center and Academic Affairs. William M. Pinkerton was named the first editor of the publication in 1976, and Jim Gillespy, who succeeded him the following year, served as his assistant. The first issue appeared in September 1976 and continues to be published weekly and distributed on Fridays. UAB Report is also the publication's department designation.
