Variant namesRequesting an offprint of Harris's work on the American Sphingidae, published in Silliman's journal (probably: Descriptive catalogue of the North American insects belonging to the Linnaean genus Sphinx, in the cabinet of Thaddeus William Harris, M.D., librarian of Harvard University (issued as article 3 in: The American journal of science and arts, conducted by Benjamin Silliman, v. 36, no. 2, Apr.-July 1839). The author offers Harris a free membership to the Société cuviérienne on condition that Harris would send him 200 arthropod specimens every year.
