Baldwin, T. W., (Thomas W.)
T. W. Baldwin and Daniel P. Shilton were partners working as sutlers at Fort Wadsworth, Dakota Territory (later Fort Sisseton, South Dakota). The Simpson brothers lived in New York City; John B. Simpson was Shilton's uncle. Baldwin and Shilton obtained loans from the Simpsons to set up as sutlers at Fort Wadsworth. They also owned a store in Waubay, thirty miles away.
