John Addison Hunt was born in 1869 in Beaver, Utah, to John Hunt and Louisa Barnes Pratt. In 1877 his father was called to help colonize Mormon settlements in Arizona and New Mexico. For the first year they lived in Savoya, New Mexico, and after that the family settled in Snowflake, Arizona when his father was called to be the Bishop of the Snowflake Ward. In 1889 Hunt married Mary Ellen Cross; the couple had 6 children together. To support his family he hauled freight and wool to and from Holbrook to various parts of Arizona; ran a hay baler; helped build the railroad from Williams to the Grand Canyon; and was a rancher and farmer. In his service to the Mormon Church, Hunt was a Deacon, a Ward teacher, an Elder, a member of the Seventy, a High Priest, a member of the Stake High Council, and a home missionary. He passed away in 1958.
