Evangelical Lutheran Joint Synod of Ohio and Other States Western District
Formed, along with the Eastern District, in 1834 following boundary disputes with the West Pennsylvania Synod. Met each year except when the entire synod met. Upon establishment of districts, the synod added the word "Joint" to its name, since the districts would meet in joint session.
