Pamela Israel, born October 3rd, 1947, in Los Angeles, California, entered the doctoral program in the Dept. of Anthropology at the at the University of California, Berkeley, as a doctoral candidate in the Department of Anthropology from 1980-1983. Israel performed extensive research in Uspantán, Guatemala (1978-1980) and Eastern Ecuador (1983-1985), which she used as a foundation for her honor's thesis and dissertation.
