On January 6, 1980, seven persons met at the home of Ken and Arlene Everett for the purpose of forming a Lutheran Church in Mountain Home. During that month a group met for Bible Study, with attendance growing to 59. The name “Grace Lutheran” was chosen January 20, 1980. The first services were held on Maunday Thursday and Easter of that year. Several pastors and laymen served the congregation during this time. Rev. Luther Watness became the group’s pastor on September 1, 1980. Formal organization occurred on January 24, 1982, and worship services were held in the IOOF Hall until 1983 when the congregation moved to the present location.
