Confederate general, educator and journalist; native of Darlington, S.C.; 1856 graduate of The Citadel; served as a history teacher there and at Kings Mountain Military Academy until 1860 when he moved to Tuskegee, Alabama, and helped to found the Military High School; later relocated to Florida; husband of Jennie Latta Law (1844-1920).
