Poet, translator, and professor, Aaron Kramer was born on December 13, 1921, in Brooklyn, NY. Kramer is identified with the literary circles of New York City throughout the mid-20th century where his work focused on the role of poet as critic of society and voice of resistance towards injustice. His major works include poems in the compilations, Seven Poets in Search of an Answer (1941) and The Tune of the Calliope: Poems and Drawings of New York ; his translations of poems from the Holocaust, and scholarly studies, such as, The Prophetic Tradition in American Poetry (1968).
