Born on December 9, 1893 in Vienna, Austria, Margarete Moller studied modern philology and earned a teaching certificate at the University of Vienna in 1917. She married Otto Kollisch in 1923, had three children, and emigrated to the United States in 1937. She lived in Staten Island, NY until her death in 1979. Margarete wrote poems, prose, short stories, and fairytales in her native German language. Kollisch's writings were often about the political turmoil of war and the role of women in society. She was honored for her literary achievements in both Austria and the United States.
