Mowry, Wendell A.

Wendell Axtell Mowry was born on November 28, 1871 in North Smithfield, Rhode Island, the son of Alonzo and Lucretia (Axtell) Mowry. He married Mabel A. Thayer (1867-1967) on August 25, 1895. They had two daughters, Helen Axtell (1896-1994) and Dorothy Thayer (1901-2000). Wendell A. Mowry was a teacher and later superintendent in Rhode Island and Massachusetts, but the family spent summers in New Hampshire (1900 to 1903) and in Westmore, Vermont in cottages along Lake Willoughby (1908 to 1957). Wendell A. Mowry died on February 28, 1959.
