Longstaff, Leonard William, 1877-1953.
Leonard William Longstaff was a direct descendant of Thomas More. The Longstaff lineage, which can be traced back to King Edward III, is connected to Thomas More via his great-grandson and biographer, Cresacre More. Cresacre's own great-grandson, Christopher Cresacre More, had a daughter Anne, who married William Bynks; their daughter Mary Bynks (d. 1788) married John Ullathorne (1725-1794) of Easingwold. Lucy Ullathorne, their granddaughter, married Owen Longstaff (1784-1872). Their great-grandson was Leonard William Longstaff.
