Michigan. Commission of Agriculture
The state's Commission of Agriculture originated as the result of Public Act 334 of 1945. This act called for a 5-member, bi-partisan commission whose members were appointed by the governor, subject to the confirmation of the senate. Membership on the commission lasted for six years. (Later this was amended to four years in 1965.) The commission is empowered to appoint the director of the Michigan Department of Agriculture.
